This project involved a full roof replacement on a residential property in Harefield. The existing roof had deteriorated over time and was no longer providing reliable protection against the elements, making a complete strip and rebuild the most practical solution.

Roof Strip & Preparation
The first stage of the project involved removing the existing tiles, battens and felt to expose the timber roof structure beneath. New Roofing System Installation
With the roof prepared, a new breathable membrane was installed across the structure. This modern layer helps protect the property from moisture while allowing the roof to ventilate properly, reducing the risk of condensation build up over time.
New treated battens were then fitted to support the slate covering. The roof was finished using Spanish slate, which provides a durable, weather resistant surface along with a clean and consistent appearance that suits the property.
Finishing Details
The final stage of the project included installing terracotta ridge tiles using a dry ridge system. This method provides a secure and mechanically fixed finish, offering improved resistance to weather compared to traditional mortar bedding.
Using a dry ridge system also reduces the need for ongoing maintenance, helping to ensure the roof remains in good condition for years to come while maintaining a neat and uniform finish.
